Skyfire’s February 2016 Power Word: Discernment Part II

Discernment Part II
In the first part of this month I spoke of how to improve your ability to discern.
Here I will share how to apply what you’ve discerned, which in and of itself is another exercise in discernment.

Think of an area of your life that you wish to make progress. It can be work, relationships or a project. See what the current environment is now and compare it to when things first started. What are your motivations? What changes if any have happened within you and around you since that point? What are your goals? Is the environment still a “match” in relation to your goals?
Don’t rush this step!  Defining these elements will give you the parameters you need to guide yourself. Remember that this is meant to be an exercise to allow your
Heart (inner Knowing) to “speak” to your Head (mind).  Both Heart and Head should weigh in equally when reaching a decision.

  I will cover three possibilities–
The first scenario is one that works against you.  Here you need to discern if you can release yourself from the situation, how to do it, and when is the best possible time.  Let’s say the situation is one where you can’t leave it soon if at all.  The first advice I give you is to breathe. The only power anything has over your inner being is what you give it!  Now more than ever is the time to practice self-love through self-care. Be honest as to what you need to support your mind, body and spirit starting now.
Embrace the fact that you have limitations. Knowing what they are will prevent you from hitting a breaking point unexpectedly.  Letting your discernment guide you to ask the right people and go to the right places to get assistance shows wisdom.  Allowing yourself daily moments of happiness no matter how small will nourish you so you can endure in the best way possible.

The next situation is one where the environment is not supportive of you, but you are able to leave it. The hardest part can be deciding when is the best time to move on. Typically, there is never a “perfect” time to do so. The best time is when you make it. Realize that your actions and words impact others. Be mindful, for final impressions can be as lasting as the first ones. Whenever possible do your best not to burn bridges. Think about what you want to express about yourself when you make that final impression. Be tactfully firm but authentic. What is equally important to strategizing how to move on is where will you go afterwards?  Knowing you have a “place to land” will give you confidence and show you what need to gather now to get there.   It is normal to feel disoriented at this stage since you are going from a “known” to an “unknown”.  This is the time to approach trustworthy people of experience. Let them guide you.
This includes professionals and mentors. You will thank yourself for not wasting time and energy.

The last possibility is that the environment is conducive to your goals.  Identify where are where your strengths and weaknesses. Think about in which manner to use your strengths to assist in creating the desired outcome.  Focus in getting the help you need to compensate for your weaknesses. Refine your strengths by learning new techniques and ways to apply them.  If you are still uncertain about your judgment, then now is the perfect time for good people to give you feedback and to apply useful information that you found.  It is okay if things need several steps to get where you want to go. The best things in life take time and require consistent effort every day to achieve them.

Once you have discerned what type of situation you have, in addition to the factors that create it, you can make decisions to move it to the next stage. Using your gift of introspection will help to reinforce if your choices are in alignment with your greater good and karma. It is a good idea to approach your Mirror of Life to see what possible reflections you might manifest. The reward is you will Know/know how to apply your energies and efforts.

Discernment allows you to be conscious of how you are interacting and manifesting with the Mirror of Life. Your understanding will go as deep as you choose to go.
