This past week I was in Cincinnati, Ohio for the Victory of Light Expo. Many people felt very self-conscious about wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving. For Several First Nation people it is a day of mourning, which is understandable considering what happened historically. However, I do not take offense at people wishing happiness and peace for me and my loved ones. It is so good to see so many people taking the time to count their blessings and strengthen the bonds of family and fellowship.
Throughout the year I travel to many places in our country and have the pleasure to speak to many more people around the world by phone and virtually. One thing I know for certain: We all wish for the same things for ourselves and for the ones we love. A safe and comfortable home, strong health, friendly communities to live in, financial stability, and opportunities to enjoy our lives.
It is also true that these simple necessities are denied to so many. An act of simple kindness to a person or an animal can mean so much to one who feels forgotten, or where life has been so rough that they feel broken. Do not forget to share the bounty that you have when you can throughout the year. It does not have to cost anything, but it means the world when you do something with an open heart and goodwill. It will mean more than perhaps you’ll ever know. It helps to bring Light into this world and keeps it shining strongly.
The spirit of Thanksgiving is meant to be one of gratitude and taking time to appreciate what you have. I hope that you take the time to savor the blessings that you have and give thanks for them. I’m grateful to all of you for giving me inspiration, supporting me over the years, and teaching me so much. May the Great Spirit bless you and your family with the gifts of help, health, and happiness. Wanishi.

Thank you. I thought the same, count our blessings and being a light. Today my goal was as I went shopping to really look at people, smile and acknowledge them . I was surprised that it all came back. People smiling, saying thank you. Just a simple thing” I went to Aldi and if you get a shopping cart you need 25cents. So 1 man gave me his and I wanted to give him 25c. He smiled & said : no someone gave it to me. When I was done I gave my cart to a woman. She smiled & thanked me. Those small gestures made me smile all the way home.
I wish you always peace and many smiles.
